  •   Our facility is a NO PASS, DON'T PAY

     You pay for a smog check if, and only IF, the vehicle passes the smog check. We do not do repairs on vehicles and we do not refer customers to repair facilities. We do so because it would be a conflict of interest if we did. This means our customers get an honest and unbiased inspection from our facility.  As a NO PASS DON'T PAY we do not have any incentive to fail or pass any vehicle.

How often should I get smog check?

  1. Biennially for most vehicles: Most vehicles are required to undergo a smog check every two years when being renewed. This is often referred to as a "biennial smog check."

  2. Change of Ownership: If you buy or sell a vehicle that is more than four model years old, a smog check will be required to complete the transaction. There are exceptions for vehicles that are transferred between certain family members.

  3. New Residents: If you're moving to California with a vehicle, you will need to have a smog check done for the initial registration, even if your vehicle has a current certificate from another state.

What is exemptions of smog ?

Exemptions: Some vehicles are exempt from regular smog checks, including:

  • Gasoline-powered vehicles that are a 1975 year model or older
  • Electric vehicles
  • Natural gas-powered vehicles weighing over 14,000 pounds
  • Motorcycles, trailers, and diesel-powered vehicles that are a 1997 year model or older with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of more than 14,000 pounds
  • Diesel-powered vehicles that are up to 1998 model year.
